Health Room Information
Nurse Niki Roskelley, ext. 2704

Dear Parents/Guardians,

If your child has been taking a medication at school during this school year, you MUST PICK UP the unused medication at your school’s health room by Tuesday, June 20th at 1:00pm.  The only exception is inhalers and they will be sent home with students on the last day of school.

In the past, unused medications could be discarded at the police station by the District Nurse.  New state laws no longer allows us to discard medications in that manner.  We now have to pay a company to have the medications discarded, which is a poor use of our District’s resources.

As we look to the 2017-2018 school year, our Medication Policy requires all medications, including over the counter medications, to have a new physician order with a parent’s signature.  The medication must be in a new original container and/or prescription bottle with the child’s name on it.

All medication administration forms can now be found on the Arlington Public Schools web page for your convenience.  These forms must be completed and signed by your child’s health care provider.

The completed paperwork and medication must be in the health room by the first day of school in September 2017.  Parents must hand deliver medications with the completed forms.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Wishing you a healthy, relaxing, and fun summer!
